My Story: A Journey of Resilience and Giving Back
Growing up in Nkoranza, 23 km south of Boabeng, my childhood was marked by hardship. Despite the challenges, my father's employment at St. Theresa Hospital enabled me to attend the reputable St. Theresa School. However, our family's poverty meant I often went to school without breakfast, wore ill-fitting uniforms, and struggled with inadequate school supplies.
After completing junior high school, my older brother's support allowed me to relocate 330 km south to Cape Coast, a seaside town that would become a turning point in my life. Over the next eight years, I worked diligently, progressing through the education system and ultimately earning a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting from Cape Coast Technical University.
Having experienced the struggles of a difficult childhood, I felt compelled to return home and support children and families in my community. My goal was to ensure they wouldn't face the same hardships I did.
I began by working as General Manager of the Monkey Sanctuary for three years. During this time, I reaffirmed my commitment to my original goals and collaborated with like-minded individuals to establish the DK Akowuah Memorial Foundation. Our mission is to create an environment where all children and young people have access to quality education and can fulfill their dreams.
At the DK Akowuah Memorial Foundation, we strive to empower parents in our community to support and encourage their children's education. We believe that together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Join us in our mission to provide quality education and a brighter future for the children in our community. Together, let's extend a helping hand to those who need it most.
